Honorary award for the Cultural Institution: the Tenor Viñas Contest✨
In its 62nd year of history, the Concurs Tenor Viñas has become one of the most prestigious singing competitions in the world and the greatest legacy of the renowned Wagnerian tenor. The tenor Francisco Viñas had always wanted to help the young singers. This vision was carried on by his son-in-law, Jacint Vilardell, in 1963. He created the Tenor Viñas Contest. It has been organized at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The Contest has become one of the major contests in the Opera, Oratorio and Lied World, in which young singers from all over the world take part every year. Miguel Lerín, great-grandson of the famous tenor, is the current promoter of the competition, steps he received from his mother, the pianist, and the musical promoter Maria Vilardell.
