Award-winning singers from the Concurs Tenor Viñas performed in the closing concert of this year’s Easter edition of Festival de Peralada, held from 2 to 5 April. The concert, which took place on the morning of Sunday 5 April, showcased the talent of artists connected to the Contest and marked the festival’s grand finale, with 95% of attendance.
The soloists were mezzo-soprano Marcela Rahal and tenor Filipe Manu, both winners of the 61st edition; soprano Yewon Han, First Prize winner of the 60th edition, and bass Manuel Fuentes, awarded in the 57th edition. All four artists received the Festival de Peralada Prize at the Concurs Tenor Viñas in their respective years.
Accompanied by the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, conducted by Guillermo García Calvo, and joined by the Cor Francesc Valls, the singers performed the programme Masses, featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert. The programme moved between the Classical period and early Romanticism, highlighting both the performers’ artistic strength and the international reach of voices emerging from the Concurso Tenor Viñas.
Their presence on a stage such as the Festival de Peralada underscores the competition’s role as a platform for emerging operatic talent, as well as its strong ties with leading institutions and festivals, both internationally and within its home territory.
